Mixer Showers
About Mixer Showers
As the title suggests ‘mixer’, it takes hot and cold water and blends it together to give you the required temperature.
To get the best performance out of your new Mixer Shower both the hot and cold water needs to be at the same pressure (balanced). Therefore the majority of mixer showers can be installed on mains fed systems, high pressure systems ( combi boiler or unvented cyclinder) or from a tank fed system, low pressure systems (cylinder and cold water storage tank). If in doubt what installation you have, please contact us.
When installing onto a low pressure system the best installation practice will be to have a dedicated feed from both your cylinder (Hot water) and Storage tank (Cold water) to give a balanced feed. If after completing the installation in this way, the shower does not perform to your desired performance a shower pump can be added simply to the installation.
When installing onto a high pressure system it is recommend to install a pressure balancing valve as this will eliminate temperature fluctuations if hot or cold water is being drawn off elsewhere in the property.
Due to the mixer shower not having any electrical parts (element etc), the designers have been able to make the shower valve bodies much more pleasing to the eye. This gives the customer much more choice when choosing the right mixer shower for their bathroom.
Mixer Shower Valves come in two different ranges; exposed and built-in. The exposed mixer shower valve allows easier installations due to it sitting on top of the wall finishing, where as the built in valve is more contemporary/minimalistic looking, but due to its more complex installation the cost of labour could be higher.
