Traditional toilets are still a popular choice for bathrooms due to their lavish and decorative designs. Those who live in older period properties such as Victorian or Georgian flats, or owners of country cottages keen on a shabby chic look often opt for these Victorian style toilets. High-level cisterns can enhance the retro look and are suitable for classic and modern spaces alike.
What Is A Traditional Toilet?
Traditional style toilets can be recognised by their grand, old-fashioned appearance and ornate style. Often larger, with a solid, stocky stature, the toilet pan typically has a matching cistern with a classic handle or chain flush that compliments the vintage style. Also known as Victorian or Vintage toilets, they beautifully combine classic style with the practical features of a modern one, such as dual flush. This blend of beauty and practicality makes traditional toilets popular for any bathroom.
Victorian Style Toilets
Our period style toilets are available in many different designs, they hold on the the original characteristics yet provide the benefits of modern features.
Traditional Back To Wall Toilet:
These toilets consist of just a toilet pan, to be used with a concealed cistern -in a WC unit or behind a wall. They bring a touch of modern minimalism to your decor and save valuable bathroom space.
Traditional Wall Hung Toilet:
Much like the back to wall version, the wall hung toilets are to be used with a concealed cistern, but are mounted on a frame in a wall, to support the weight and give the illusion that the pan is floating above the floor.
Traditional Close Coupled Toilet:
Close coupled toilets have the cistern attached to the the back of the toilet pan, creating one combined unit. These are some of the most popular toilet styles and are what people typically think of when they think of a toilet.
Traditional Low Level Toilet:
A low level toilet has a decorative short chrome coloured pipe which attaches the wall mounted cistern to the floor standing pan. The cistern is usually at a height of around 1M from floor level. These cisterns can usually be operated by a push button or flush lever.
Traditional Mid Level Toilet:
Much like the low level toilet, the mid level has a chrome pipe, which is slightly longer so the cistern is mounted higher up the wall at around 1.5M- creating more of a focal point. The flush is typically operated by a flush lever.
Traditional High Level Toilet:
The high level toilet as a long chrome pipe joining the pan to the cistern, which is mounted around 2m from floor level. The cistern is often supported by ornamental brackets to add to the traditional design, and the cistern is operated by a flush chain.
Upon flushing the Low, Mid and High level toilets, water flows down the pipe and around the rim of the toilet pan, washing away waste. These toilets are often crafted from high-quality materials like vitreous china, ensuring durability and a pristine finish.
