Importance of Shower Tray Sizes

Choosing the right shower tray size is important for style and functional reasons. A shower tray that is too large or small for your space can impact the look and feel of your bathroom. A well-sized shower tray can create a sense of symmetry and harmony, while a poorly sized one can make the room look cluttered and uncomfortable. A shower tray that is too small can lead to water splashing onto the floor, creating damage or a slippery surface to walk on. A shower tray that is too large can make the room feel cramped and uncomfortable. Please ensure you are selecting the ideal shower tray size to fit into your space, creating a safe, comfortable, and visually appealing shower space.

When buying a shower tray, there are several points to consider to ensure you choose the right one for your bathroom. The size and shape of your bathroom, as well as which other essentials are in there, can determine which is the ideal shower tray size. It goes without saying that a larger bathroom can accommodate a larger shower tray, while a smaller bathroom may require a smaller tray. Consider the location of the shower area, the positioning of the door, and the flow of people coming into and out of the room. A rectangular shower tray might be perfect for a long, narrow bathroom, while a square shower tray could be ideal for a more compact space.

The material and shape of the shower tray are also important considerations. Different materials, such as stone resin, acrylic or volcanic ash, offer varying levels of durability and style. Stone resin shower trays are known for their robustness and luxurious feel. The shape of the shower tray, whether square, rectangular, quadrant, or offset quadrant, can also impact the overall look and feel of the bathroom. A quadrant shower tray might be perfect for a corner shower enclosure, while a rectangular shower tray could be ideal for a more traditional layout.

Shower Trays Sizes UK

Here at Bella Bathrooms, we have a vast range of different shower tray sizes, starting at 700mm x 700mm for a square or quadrant tray, rectangular trays start at 800mm x 700mm and we sell offset quadrant trays sizing from 760mm x 900mm. For those with more spacious bathrooms, large shower trays are available to create a substantial showering area. The sizes of the tray increase from 700mm to 760mm, then 800mm and after that, climb in increments of 100mm at a time. Our small space-saving square and quadrant-shaped shower trays are perfect for small bathrooms and ensuites, while larger bathrooms can accommodate more spacious rectangular and offset quadrant shower trays, making a larger showering area. Our largest shower tray is 2000mm x 1000mm, huge enough to create a substantial space for you to make time for yourself and savour your daily routine.

If you’re replacing an existing tray, you should measure the length and width of the tray and the radius of the curve if the tray is a quadrant or offset quadrant tray. Take into consideration whether the tray is being tiled down to if it’s in a corner, as this could make a difference to the final measurement. If you’re putting in a new shower tray from scratch, measure the available floor space and, if possible, mark out the area or cut the tray size and shape out of cardboard so you can visualise the tray in situ and be sure it’s the size you want. After the tray is fitted and the walls are tiled, the final measurement is usually reduced by around 20–40 mm. You should check that the final measurement is within the doors’ adjustment range and buy your shower door accordingly.

Walk In Shower Trays Sizes

A bathroom’s size and layout will often have some control over the type and size of walk in shower trays that can be installed. For anyone lucky enough to have the space, a walk in shower tray will give a spacious, open showering experience that is second to none. As people plan for the future and start thinking about replacing their bath with a walk in shower, bath sized trays are becoming increasingly popular. Usually around 1500mm x 700mm but going up to 1800mm x 900mm, it’s possible to buy a large shower tray that would replace your bath yet still leave space for other bathroom essentials like toilets, basins and storage units. Often, with a lower profile, these trays create a simple transition from the bathroom floor to the showering area. With our range of trays at prices to suit all budgets, getting the showering space of your dreams doesn’t have to break the bank.

Double Shower Tray

What is a double shower tray? A double shower tray is big enough to fit two people on at once, usually from around 1200mm up to 1800mm in length. Whether you want to use the extra space for sharing or just enjoy a spacious showering experience, the decision is yours. Either way, you will achieve all the benefits of having your own personal relaxing spa in the comfort and privacy of your own home. When choosing a larger or double shower tray, stone resins are often recommended due to their ability to withstand the rigours of daily use. When deciding on your shower tray size, remember it will be one of the bathroom essentials and should be the best fit for the bathroom as well as a comfortable size for users.

Shower Tray Height

Shower trays are available in several different heights and the type you choose could depend on the location of the pipework and waste. If the pipes and waste are below the floor, for example, under floorboards, you can choose any height of the shower tray. A popular choice is a low-profile which are around 30mm high but can go up to 40mm - 45mm high. These slimline trays provide a sleek, modern look that will enhance any bathroom. If the pipes and waste are above the floor, these trays can be raised with the help of a riser kit. Riser kits consist of a leg set, clips, and a plinth. They lift the tray off the ground so you can hide unsightly plumbing, yet they still provide easy access if you need access to the pipes. Our trays with the highest profile are the Frontline Standard trays which are a generous 80mm high at the edge. Shower tray heights usually vary between 30mm and 80mm, and using a riser kit will raise them by around 100mm. Most shower trays have a small lip around the edge but some flat trays are also available if you want a continuous, levelled feel to your room.

Installing a shower tray of any size requires careful planning and fitting to ensure that you have a safe and functional showering experience. Before installing a shower tray, ensure that the floor it is to be fitted on is level and secure. A shower tray that is not properly fitted can lead to water leaks and damage. Think about the type of floor you have, whether it’s concrete, tile, or wood, and choose a shower tray and/or compatible riser kit. Water test the tray before fitting and ensure that the waste pipe is properly in line with the waste hole in the shower tray. Finally, consider hiring a professional plumber if you’re not comfortable with the installation process. Proper installation is essential to ensure that your shower tray functions correctly and provides a safe, enjoyable showering experience.
